Positive steps to mental well-being

Our MissionWe are committed to promoting positive steps to mental well-being within Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in RBKC.
Our Vision

People from BME communities with mental health issues will:

  • Receive more appropriate support
  • Have a better understanding of mental health and positive steps to well being
  • Be equipped with skills to make more informed observations about behaviours that could suggest possible mental health problems
Our Objectives

People from BME communities with mental health issues will:

  • To address mental health issues, primarily within the BME communities across RBKC, that would lead to earlier treatment
  • To develop sustainable awareness campaigns around mental illness within BME communities by working with individuals, community groups and statutory services
  • To ensure active participation of BME groups in the consultation and implementation of mental health policy through re-establishment of the BME Local Implementation Team (BME LIT)
  • To ensure all information and approaches are adopted by the statutory services and that links between the statutory and community voluntary organisations are developed and strengthened
Our Values

We believe in:

  • Equality
  • Respect
  • Knowledge
  • Integrity
  • Honesty
  • Loyalty
